“Science is a way of life. Science is a perspective. Science is the process that takes us from confusion to understanding in a manner that’s precise, predictive and reliable – a transformation, for those lucky enough to experience it, that is empowering and emotional.”
In 2014, Think Inc. had the pleasure of wowing Australian audiences with (and introducing many new ones to) the concept of string theory: an ambitious theoretical framework that seeks to reshape the way we understand the physical world from being particle-based to being comprised of one-dimensional interacting ‘strings’. Beyond this, like general relativity and quantum field theory before it, string theory attempts to combine the interaction of all four fundamental forces of the universe into one simple equation: a unified ‘theory of everything’.
An evening with Dr Michio Kaku sent our imaginations and interpretations of the physical world into overdrive, and in 2016 the adventure towards understanding and grasping string theory continues with Dr Brian Greene.
Brian Greene attended the prestigious Harvard University from 1980, and in 1987 received his PhD in physics from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. Though one of the world’s renowned string theorists, his goals lie far beyond unraveling the mysteries of our universe.
